Tails & Stories from the passed.
2 Lt Mike Clark,
Graduated on 17 Sep 1960 from Mons OCS and arrived in 12 OFP early October and took part in the late Autumn Exercise in East Border area of Germany.
I was posted to Jamaica October 1961. I left British Army in 1963 and enlisted in Australian Army June 1964 where I served for 20 years
I commanded 1 OFP in Vietnam part of Australian Task Force [Brigade size] from Nov 1967 to Nov 1968 during the huge TET battle of 1968
My memories of 12 OFP were of great activity in lots of sports and that we were one of the best Sprint Relay teams in BAOR we trained in the summer in Celle for the contests. Capt John Bassett was the driving force in our sporting exploits.
We were a very good professional unit and had a par on fitness with the Infantry units in the Brigade getting lots of praise from Brigadier Manne our BC.
I often think if I had stayed in 12 OFP and not gone to Jamaica where my life may have lead or not lead as the West Indies was really very nice but professionally a waste of time!
